altered moods recordings releases its next vinyl ep octaves of energy. this threetracker by crawley, uk-based artist mick welch is a smooth, sultry adventure into the core ethos of amr music. mick is no stranger to the deep house sound. starting in 2002, he has built a strong following of fans in the uk, first with his elektrosouls mix site and shortly after that with his label of the same name. the -octaves of energy- release represents his latest foray into the deepness. -conscious field- kicks things off with a tambourine- and high-hat infused beat with rich, dark leads burbling up throughout, interrupted now and then by a wistful bridge with an echoing voice telling you not to be afraid. -mind force- is another laid back jam, with a bright, crisp cowbell intertwine with an accouterment of lush pads and silky leads. the final track on the flip side, octave 50, is the deepest cut of the three and also the easiest to work the dance floor with. with its sinewy, filtered pad and bubbly bass line combined with warm, warbling leads, it fits both in the studio and at the club.

limited to 100 copies hand-stamped 12 inch.return to disorder is the new label from hamburg producer and dj helena hauff, known for her dark brand of ebm and electro-infused music and without doubt one of the best selectors currently playing in clubs. the act responsible for the debut release from return to disorder is children of leir, a leicester-based psych rock outfit whose influences come from mystical horror. not the sort of music one would immediately associate with hauff s floor pummelling dj sets and a hint that return to disorder will be dictated by hauffs tastes as opposed to a need to satisfy the beat. the four tracks present here are a fine introduction to children of leir, with their feedback-laden sound perfectly enhanced by the mastering skills of pete sonic boom kember.

this 12inch is pure trance. who is/are rita furstenhof? we have no idea who she/he/they are. the a1 track, the mighty -hadron collider- was sent to optimo music hq about 18 months ago. normally sending one track is not much use to a label, but this was so good that we instantly replied to say we wanted to release it. rita furstenhof works in mysterious ways, and it was 18 months until the other tracks for the ep arrived. along the way there were a few times when we thought they had completely vanished, and we were never going to have a complete ep, but finally, here it is.

doc severinsen is an accomplished american jazz/pop trumpet player, and as a band leader gained considerable notoriety on the tonight show with johnny carson. like most musicians in the 70s, doc took his shot at the disco and funk sounds of the time, gathered stellar musicians, and released impeccably sounding works. two of these cuts, be with you and shine on me are featured on this release. harvey s unfailing magic touch has yielded two dj-friendly edits with a lot of punch and galactic energy, yet with a velvet undertone. staying true to the mission, the label took great care throughout the production process in order to preserve the quality of the original recordings.
